When to sail? 

Ibiza is the ultimate year-round destination and has the most balanced climate of all the Balearic Islands and enjoys over 300 days of sunshine in a year. The sailing season starts in April and runs through until October. During the summer, the temperature averages between 25 – 30 °C, with moderate southeast winds, creating the ideal weather conditions for your next yacht charter in Ibiza.  

If you are looking to sail without the crowds, we would recommend chartering during off-peak times, such as April and May or September and October. Chartering during these times may also help cut down on costs, with better availability for lots of boats and lower flight prices.  

However, chartering between June and September also has its advantages, such as the ideal weather conditions, bustling atmosphere, and vibrant nightlife. Ibiza is an island that truly comes alive during the summer months.  

How to get there?

Ibiza is easily accessible, with direct flights from many western European cities during both winter and summer. During the off-peak season, flights to Ibiza can start as low as €40 when booked in advance. It is also possible to take the ferry from Valencia (approx. 5 hours), Barcelona (approx. 8 hours) or Denia (approx. 3 hours).  

What to do? 

Ibiza Old Town 

Ibiza’s old town – Dalt Vila, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with quaint seafood restaurants, charming boutiques, and narrow cobblestoned streets. Visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria and admire the Gothic and Baroque architecture from the 14th century. Make sure to visit the markets to stock up on local, handmade souvenirs and your favorite local foods. Mercado de Sant Jordi is open every Saturday in Sant Jordi, just 35 minutes away from Ibiza Marina by bus, or less than 10 minutes in a taxi

Es Vedra 

Es Vedra is a very small rocky island off the southwestern coast of Ibiza. It is 413m tall and is part of the Cala d’Hort nature reserve. Es Vedra is most famous as being believed to be the third most magnetic place on Earth, making it a ‘spiritual hotspot.’ In Greek Mythology it is also said to be home to Sirens. Especially stunning at sunset, Es Vedra is one of the must-see sites for nature lovers travelling to Ibiza.  

Wine tasting 

Ibiza is home to around 10 local vineyards, many of them are small and family run and focus on organic wines and sustainable practices. While the number of vineyards is small, their focus is on local and high-quality wine from the local grape varieties (Monastrell, Tempranillo and Muscat). Where to sail? 

Day 1: Ibiza Marina  

Ibiza Marina is one of the most iconic marinas in the Mediterranean, with over 420 berths, it can hold yachts up to 110m. This eco-friendly marina boasts high quality services and some of the best views on the island. The marina is also only a 13-minute drive from the airport, you can take a taxi, the bus, or contact your GlobeSailor advisor to arrange your airport transfer. Embark on board, unpack, and settle in. There is nothing better than a cooling evening dip in the ocean after a long day of travelling! Celebrate your first evening on this beautiful island and dine out, indulge in the local wine and cuisine before returning onboard to spend the night. 

Day 2: Marina Ibiza – Portinatx (approx. 22 nautical miles) 

For your first day of sailing, raise your sails and set off for Portinatx, a fishing village on the northernmost bay on the island. This secluded village is the perfect first stop for your sailing holiday in Ibiza. Kick off your holiday by indulging in complete relaxation, unwinding on Portinatx beach, known for its pristine sand and turquoise waters. Have lunch in one of the many beachfront restaurants offering fresh seafood and authentic local cuisine. Spend the afternoon exploring the nearby Punta Moscater Lighthouse or visit Sa Terre des Savinar, an 18th century watchtower.  

Day 3: Portinatx – San Antonio (approx. 16.5 nautical miles) 

Continuing southward, your next stop is San Antonio, Ibiza’s second largest town is famous for its lively nightlife, beaches, and large natural harbor. This cosmopolitan enclave offers the most perfect blend of culture, entertainment, and blissful relaxation. Swim, snorkel, or sunbathe in Playa de S’Arenal or Cala Salada. Wander through charming streets and cafes or watch Ibiza’s iconic sunset from the beachside rocks. Why not visit the beautiful 14th century church in the town center, the Church of San Antonio Abad.  

Day 4: San Antonio – Cala Vedella (approx. 8 nautical miles) 

Next up is Cala Vedella, one of the island’s most popular beaches. This beach resort is renowned for its calm and inviting waters, peaceful surroundings, and beachfront restaurants. After sailing under the clear and sunny Spanish skies, disembark at the golden beach. Relax by the water with a good book, soaking up the sun’s rays and the laid-back atmosphere. Choose a beachfront restaurant for lunch and be sure to taste the best of what the Mediterranean has to offer: fresh seafood, grilled meat, salads. After a leisurely morning, why not hike along the coastal trails that surround Cala Vedella. Enjoy panoramic views of the rugged cliffs, lush pine trees and breathtaking coastal views.  

Day 5: Cala Vedella – Las Salines (approx. 13 nautical miles) 

Continue your journey along the picturesque coastline of Ibiza until you reach Las Salines beach, one of the most famous beautiful on the island. The white sand and clear waters create the perfect backdrop to relax in the sun, admiring the views of the Torre de ses Portes, a historic watchtower. For lunch, head to one of the charming beach bars for a relaxing lunch. You can spend the afternoon sipping on sangria or strolling through Las Salines national park, home to diverse ecosystems such as salt flats, wetlands, and pine forests.  

Day 6: Las Salines – Puerto Formentera (approx. 7 nautical miles) 

No sailing holiday in Ibiza would be complete without a trip to Formentera! As the smallest of the Balearic Islands, this enchanting island is known for its long stretching beaches and clean blue waters. Spend the morning exploring the natural beauty of the island, stroll along La Savina harbor, admire the vibrant fishermen style houses, and take in the atmosphere. This is the perfect area to explore the underwater world and snorkel or swim in the clear water. After building up an appetite, have a hearty lunch of fresh seafood from one of the charming seaside restaurants. Spend your last evening relaxing by the water or watching the sunset across the pink sky

Day 7: Puerto Formentera – Ibiza Marina (approx. 12 nautical miles) 

Make your way back to your starting point, Ibiza Marina. On your way, you might stop off at Ses Illetes Beach, one of Formentera’s most stunning beaches. Enjoy your final morning snorkeling with fish and relaxing in the sun, before taking your boat back to the marina and catching your transfer to the airport!
